The Viridi-anne
Graduating in fine art at Tokyo Zoukei University, designer Tomoaki Okaniwa, switched from oil paintings to textile design and launched his debut collection The Viridi-anne in 2001.
Known for its dark and brooding color palette, clean lines and modern aesthetic, The Viridi-anne is subtle yet complex at the same time. The collection of men’s The Viridi-anne clothing offers a comfortable kind of cutting-edge cool. Asymmetrically constructed separates, layered shorts, and distressed jersey t-shirts embody “wabi-sabi”, the Japanese aesthetic of imperfection and incompleteness, revealing the intricate handcraft process behind each piece.
